Practice Tracks by Piotrek
When first starting out with latin dance, the count can be challenging, the instrumentation distracting and the tempo overwhelming. Piotrek has created some tracks to help you gain insight into the music and succeed from the get go!
This track compilation was composed by Piotr Kowalczyk for salsa students. The arrangements are designed to 1. help you improve your count in salsa and 2. to train your ear to the variety of instrumentation commonly found in salsa music. You will be challenged to listen and respond to the music with your dance steps. This is a great practice resource as the tracks have slowed tempo between 60 and 70 BPM. This is the perfect tempo for beginners and intermediate dancers learning new movements.

Music Software
In addition to Piotrek’s practice tracks, we recommend using DJ software to slow popular music down. Our favorite software is by Native Instruments, called Traktor. We use the Pro Version for our socials and events, but the free version should serve you well for practicing.
