Welcome to Salsa Secrets

Premier Latin Dance School

Our mission is to share the dance with you, by combining excellent dance technique with the opportunity to your open heart. When technique and heart develop together, we fully experience the healing power of dance and then, the real MAGIC can begin. We believe deeply in our students and want to see you succeed. We would be honored if you joined us on the dance floor!

Salsa Secrets is directed by Piotrek Kowalczyk and Krystal Couture, who bring passion, inspiration and creativity into the dance while honoring the evolutionary process that learning dance offers. Piotrek and Krystal feel abundant love and gratitude to share Salsa Secrets with each of you!

Another Salsa Season coming to a close. Join us for the END OF SEASON dance social on Saturday June 20th. Everyone is welcome. Let’s celebrate YOU and another amazing season at Salsa Secrets!

Social dances are held the third Saturday of each month at our Portsmouth studio, with an intermediate dance class beginning at 7:30pm and social dancing until 10:30pm. Water & hand sanitizer provided.

Salsa in the Park is an opportunity for dancers, community members, and families to come together in celebration. These events give us all an opportunity to dance outside in the summer months, free of charge. Everyone is welcome, no partner is necessary. Salsa in the Park will include a 30 minute salsa footwork combination, followed by social dancing. Where: Front Pavilion @ Stratham Hill Park (down by Portsmouth Ave.)

We created Underground Salsa as a summer salsa series for our intermediate and advanced students, focusing on the combos with multiple intro or resolution options: door numbers 1, 2, 3, for example. This class is meant to challenge your mind, creativity and technique! It is a workout for both mind and body! AND IT’S A GREAT TIME!

Our Summer Dance Camp is a Latin Flavor Series for beginners. In three weeks you will get an introduction to Salsa, Merengue, and Bachata. This series is designed with the absolute beginner in mind. This gives you the opportunity to try out each style of dance and get a feel for us as teachers.

Spring Dance Schedule

Step off the dance floor and onto the deck of the M/V Thomas Laighton for a breathtaking Sunset Salsa Cruise—set to sail on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, boarding at 6:30 PM and cruising from 7:00 to 9:30 PM. For 2½ hours, you’ll groove to non‑stop salsa under the evening sky, surrounded by the stunning vistas of Portsmouth Harbor and the legendary Isles of Shoals. This event is 21+, cash bar only, and we’re intentionally keeping ticket sales limited to give everyone room to dance freely.

Class Details

  • No partner is needed, but if you have one or a bestie, they might love to join you!

  • Punch cards are designed to keep the prices low.

  • Drop ins are welcome for classes that are not absolute beginner.

  • Please read the Class Descriptions before signing up to make sure you’re in the right class.

If you have no salsa or minimal salsa (‘I took a class for a few weeks 10 years ago’ or ‘I took a class at a bar in the Caribbean on vacation’) dance experience, you’ll need an Absolute Beginner Series!! We run three per year, September, January and April.

The next Absolute Beginner Series will start in September. Join our newsletter to be notified.

The dance can reveal everything mysterious that is hidden in music, and it has the additional merit of being human and palpable. Dancing is poetry with arms and legs.
