Olivia Allen has been teaching around the Seacoast since moving here in 2010, serving as Adjunct Faculty at Colby College, Northern Essex Community College, and teaching at MusicalArts Academy in New Hampshire and Dance Unlimited in Maine. She has performed with the resident company of the University of Utah, including a cultural exchange with Kyung Hee University in South Korea and has performed numerous times with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra Christmas Spectacular, aired every holiday season on PBS. She has choreographed and performed around the seacoast, teaching all ages and levels of ballet, tap, pointe, partnering, and more. Her personal training and fitness certifications allows her to not only teach, but train dancers to be their best selves, finding increased strength, agility, flexibility and grace in their dancing. Most recently Mrs. Allen presented her self designed Barre class at the American College Dance Association to students and faculty of New England Colleges and Universities, where it received high praise from the dance community. Currently Mrs. Allen is developing her own Barre, Adult Ballet, and fitness classes out of Exeter, NH.
The Sisters Phoenix are united in dance. They are committed to dance as a path to healing and connection. They are members of Beast Coast ITS (Improvisational Tribal Style) and The Barefoot Truth Dance Company. They travel for workshops and performances both locally, nationwide and internationally.
LA Beatz Dance Studio is a dance studio that is located in Portsmouth, NH! LA Beatz strives to not only teach the art of dance, but to love. We push love through our craft, our communities, and importantly ourselves as humans. The set LA Beatz is performing is choreographed by Anthony Bounphakhom. The piece is about how important it was of being a kid. The power of innocence and being free from the pressures of society. Being able to be individual and yourself.
Namory Keita and Liz Fowler teach weekly Guinean style West African drum and dance classes at the Dance Hall in Kittery, ME on Thursday nights. And sometimes they perform with members of their classes as Seacoast West African Dance and Drum. Namory, who is unable to join Salsa in the Park, is a master drummer originally from Guinea, West Africa. He teaches regularly in Maine, but also travels around the world as a performer and instructor. Liz has been studying Guinean dance for more than 25 years.
